This category is a platform for mums and step mums dads and step dads to meet, discuss and share how they manage complicated and complex family situations. When a family member has an eating disorder the effects of the illness are felt throughout the immediate family every day and by the wider family at family events. Parents and step parents are often central to all of the family interactions; there will be many and differing demands on your time, energy and emotions. There may be other siblings, elderly parents and your partner to understand and support and on top of all of this you may be trying to hold down a job.
Suggestions for post topics; managing the effect on family life, establishing family expectations, things that you should not do or say, explaining the illness to friends and family, planning for family events that will involve food and large numbers of people, making family holidays work, eating out, creating a safe and supportive environment, establishing kitchen rules, your relationship with your partner, maintaining communication, keeping your job, managing finances understanding prescribed treatment .
